Welcome!

My name is Eva Ryman. I'm 20 years old, and I'm a junior at Middle Tennessee State University. My major is Apparel Design, and I'm dual minoring in Spanish and Studio Art.

I've lived in Tennessee my whole life, and in Murfreesboro for the past 4 months or so. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to be involved with the fashion and beauty scene, and clothes have always been fascinating to me. Currently, I have been sewing and growing my knowledge in fashion for almost thirteen years, and I hope to keep learning for as long as I can.

I have a very strong ability to multi-task and manage my time well. I have a lot of practice in both prioritizing the use of my time, as well as pushing the possible utilization of my time as far as I can. I am typically not content to do the bare minimum, because I am a highly driven individual and I am always looking for areas of my life to improve. I always strive to do my best and learn something from every opportunity I can.

Additionally, I am a natural leader. I grew up with four younger siblings, so I have a lot of practice with overseeing others. This ended up leading to bosses entrusting me with leadership roles and responsibilities in my various past jobs. Because I was in charge so much, I would also consider myself a problem solver. Whether other people have issues, or my expectations don't go to plan, a big part of who I am is that I always try to keep these unexpected issues in perspective and come up with a creative solution no matter the problem. Keeping an optimistic mindset is extremely important, in my opinion, because especially in fashion, things may not always go to plan. It's important to not let problems overwhelm you, and focus on solutions or alternate angles to the problem instead.

Here is some of what I've been working on the last few years.

Clothes have always been fascinating to me, and I love to learn more about them, study them, and find new and creative ways to make them. I have a special interest in alterations and convertible fashion- that is, clothes that you can change or adjust based on your body type or personal preference- and I work on this every day in my personal and professional life.

I grew up with four younger siblings- three sisters and a brother- so I would definitely consider myself a problem solver. Whether other people have issues or my expectations don't go to plan, a big part of who I am is that I always try to keep these unexpected issues in perspective and come up with a creative solution no matter the problem. Keeping an optimistic mindset is extremely important, in my opinion, because especially in fashion, things may not always go to plan. It's important to not let problems overwhelm you, and focus on solutions or alternate angles to the problem instead. That is how I have improved as an individual, and learned from all of my experiences, failures, and successes.

Here is some of what I've been working on the last few years!

Where It All Began

This is a collection of assignments I completed in Basic Design, now called Apparel Foundation Fundamentals. It includes basic sewing projects and color harmony study, styling board projects based on body types, and a final group marketing and brand development project that covers all aspects of creating and catering to a target market.
